United We Stand

9/11 Message from Craig Owens:

On this day nineteen years ago, our country was shaken to its core.

Like you, I remember exactly where I was when the planes hit and the towers fell. Shortly after, the forever wars began. We will never forget the lives lost, the bravery of so many, and how we came together as one country to care for each other.

In the years to come, as an Army reservist, I was called upon to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq. Over the course of my military career, I’ve had the honor to serve with America’s best and brightest. Some, like me, joined the military at a young age following the path of family members who had a passion for service. Others joined after the 9/11 attacks, knowing the risk that was to come.

The best way to honor those we lost – in the attacks and in the war that followed – is to remember that we are indeed the United States of America.

United we stand but divided we fall. We must recognize we have more in common with each other than we do differences. And we cannot allow those differences – whether they be party affiliation, race, or other – to tear us apart.

My entire career has been built upon protecting and serving everyone – no matter who they are, where they come from, or their life circumstances. That’s why I am running for sheriff – to ensure the sheriff’s office does just that. To be a resource to the community and to help those in the detention center re-enter society with a new outlook on life. Our county can be a shining example of local law enforcement’s commitment to everyone who calls Cobb home.

In unity,

Craig Owens
