Meet Rhonda

Chief Deputy Select

I’m a proud Cobb County native and graduate of Marietta City Public Schools. I went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Like Major Craig Owens, I’ve been in law enforcement for nearly all of my adult life. I’ve spent much of my career in the Cobb Sheriff’s office. I was the county’s first African American female deputy, a glass ceiling I was honored and humbled to break.

Distinguished Leadership

I bring more than 30 years of experience in Cobb County law enforcement, having joined the sheriff’s office in 1983, which includes my work as a county probation officer. Together, Major Owens and I bring the leadership and relationships of having worked both in the police department and the sheriff’s office.

My experience working in the detention center, in field operations, criminal investigations, and the work-release program will help ensure we put forth policies that work in the best interest of the public.

Deep Cobb, Community Roots

I am a Cobb native and raised my four children in the same county that helped mold me into the leader I am today. I’m a proud grandmother of four. Every Sunday, you can find me at Turner Chapel A.M.E. in Marietta where I’m a lifelong member and currently serve on the usher board and volunteer ministry.

My community service in Cobb includes Little League football, booster club vice president, track team mom, and volunteering for various non-profit organizations.

A Fighter

As a twelve-year breast cancer survivor and a woman in a male-dominated industry, I’m no stranger to putting up a good fight.

If you elect Craig as our next sheriff, I will work with him as Chief Deputy to make sure the sheriff’s office is one that’s community-centered and will fight to make sure the deputies are representative of the county we serve. I’m committed to helping restore the integrity of the sheriff’s office and make it one known for its professionalism and compassionate service.
