The easy thing to do is to just “house” detainees but that doesn’t help them and it doesn’t help our county. We will treat detainees with dignity and help them return to society by providing drug counseling, educational opportunities, and basic parenting and life skills training.
I don’t want the detention center to just be a place that houses people. Rather, I want detainees to come out of the detention center with a plan for their life and a path to becoming a productive member of the greater Cobb community.
We’ll invite community organizations and leaders to provide support through pastoral and faith-based outreach and connect them to resources upon their release.
